i sent them a message asking will it really cut through asbestos and the reply was , ''Hi,
Yes it will.'' , :shock: perhaps i am just overly paranoid about asbestos.

Of course it will cut through asbestos (presumably they mean asbestos sheeting). So will a jigsaw, or even a handsaw. Or a drill bit. It's not a particularly difficult material to cut.

But that's not really your point is it?

I'm surprised they include it on a list of example materials that can be cut, but I assume there's no law about it, only that it has to be an accurate statement.

Being paranoid about it is no bad thing, but it can be done safely when the appropriate precautions are taken. The HSE even have leaflets about it.

Ive got half a ton of the stuff sitting in my garden , I am still pulling lumps of the stuff out of the house. The last rub with it was when i had to dig a trench for my gas pipe from the tank to the house. I had to go through a concrete path so out came the demolition breaker/hammer. Mr DIY man (the previous owner) had laid down sheets of asbestos then poured the concrete path over the top of it. :shock: All i could do was soak it with a hose and break out lumps of the stuff until it was clear enough to dig down to lay the pipe. I do hate seeing the stuff however this was quite interesting to read,

I would never , ever consider drilling through it though , not in a million years.

yup , until an unsuspecting robgil smashes down through it with a breaker. :shock: to be fair though i think its also perfectly harmless above ground , i still wouldn't drill through it though.

Rob - you'll certainly find a use for a core drill like that if you ever have to pass a 110mm waste pipe through a masonry wall. It will of course need a mandrel and a pilot bit.

I need all sorts of core drill sizes Penners , I managed to somehow lose all mine in the move , unless they are deep within the packed out garage somewhere. I put a sink into the utility room last week and I ended up drilling a hole for the waste by way of first drilling lots of small holes with a 10mil masonry bit then chipping it all out with a demolition hammer. :shock: It was the horrible new extension bit of the house so i wasn't too worried about it. :lol:
