This evening's Dispatches might feature my basement

The undercover policeman who was asked to find information about Stephen Lawrence lived in my basement in the 1990s when it was a separate flat, before I bought the house. He and the team of journalists doing the investigation came round a few weeks ago with a camera crew and filmed an interview with him in what is now my dining room. They spent the best part of an afternoon doing the shooting but I don't know how much of this material they will use in tonight's programme (on Channel 4, 8pm). Looking at the trailers it seems that they may have refilmed the interview in a different and rather starker basement than ours.

They obviously thought that having your dining room in the background might prompt a public outcry over how a humble copper managed to live in such sumptuous luxury! :wink:

I've just watched a bit of it* and it certainly shows your uber-elegant dining room, but only for a minute or so. I'm always surprised how long it can take to film what turns out to be a tiny part of a programme.

* I gave up when it told me that the first commercial break was going to last for three minutes, and there was no way I could fast-forward through it.
