Thermal leak detectors and gadgets

Hi .. has anyone used a thermal leak detector and would you recommend one?

I'm also pricing up other gadgets like cameras for going up chimneys and laser measures. Can't believe how cheap some technology has become! What gadgets would you not be without?

Never seen that.

As you say, incredibly cheap. I think at that price one has nothing to lose really.

The only thing I would say about 'draughts' is that in older houses they can be a necessary and well-dispersed form of ventilation. I have deliberately left gaps around some of our doors and windows.

I have a remote thermometer which shows up cold spots/condensation potentials, and can help with car problems.

Less than £8. Incredible. Results from polished surfaces are erratic otherwise it works well.

I also have a stud detector, and a pipe/cable detector, which help avoid hole-drilling disasters. Well, they do if one remembers that the marks one made on the wall some time ago, show where not to drill rather than where one should drill.

I have a digital laser measuring thingy and it's pretty good. It can be connected up to computer software via wifi so it will add the measurements to a plan as you take them, but I have not tried that one out yet.

I quite fancy a Flir One once the price drops a bit, or one of these
Amazon, ebay etc sell USB "snake cameras" that are incredibly useful as long as you can control them. Very cheap too.
