This is a short film made by a couple of young lads. I think I mentioned my friend my friend Rob Ley here a few times. He's a life-long oak framer and expert on the traditional Lincolnshire mud and stud cottages. His children are following in his trade and his eldest son, James and his mate, Billy, have now set up their own firm. They are fantastic. The film shows them plastering a timber framed house they have built. It just doesn't come better than this. Enjoy. Inspire the next generation.

Well I enjoyed it for the right reasons! Nice work there Biff, shame they didn't show more of the finished outside of the timber framed extension they were building near the end. And they clearly like Queens of the Stone Age, which is a good thing.

I enjoyed it too, but I just wish that we had been able to use just one coat of plaster as they did on this cob house. It took us absolutely ages (and put pressure on my wallet).

Fascinating to see the mud plaster being applied. It looks extremely tolerant and easy.

Biff - when the mud is applied as thickly as that, doesn't it crack when it dries out?
