Terraced house Drainage problems

Hi ,

We recently bought a terraced property of victorian type. In the recent rain the garden was drained and the house carpet was fully soaked.

We are planning replace carpet with tiles and increase the door steps from garden. This is to prevent water getting into the house.

Please advise what is the best way to prevent water getting into the house

Sorry to hear of your troubles but it would be helpful if you could provide more information. Are there slopes toward to the house? Are these paved areas? How is the water getting in? Answers to these and other questions will help to suggest actions that would be helpful.
