Has anyone tried this? I am thinking of installing some for the winter then removing it in the spring, not least because my wife is always complaining that her study is too cold.

Tried it and it works - zero condensation in the shower room which must mean it's being effective as an insulator. Is pretty much invisible once gently tightened up with a hairdrier. This little window has had the same bit of film in place now for well over two years and it's still as good as when applied - did need a minor re-shrink after the first winter.
In the study (which has a bigger and pretty rotten window) we did get damp inside which probably wasn't great for slowing the decay so that one is currently uncovered until I do some serious repairs to the frame. Removing the sticky residue from the double sided tape needs a fair bit of solvent and effort once the film is taken off.

It really helps on cutting draughts and you can immediately feel the change in temperature from the cold glass to warm plastic. Only thing I'll say is that you ideally need flat surfaces on the windows on all 4 sides otherwise the pull when the plastic tightens pulls the tape off. Also if you have large windows then put some tape down the centre if you can. its like the Krypton Factor trying to get the best use out the film.

Yes, I used this as a temporary solution for draughty single glazed windows at a previous shack. Works well and lasted for over a year but of course the windows couldn't be opened in the meantime.
