Surveyors for Period Properties

Hi all, I have a buyer for my large Manor House period property (1601) but he wants a full structural survey. Most surveyors are only positive about modern construction materials and designs and do not like timber beams, stone walls, ancient foundation constructions etc etc. The house is in very good condition but I am nervous about some chap coming round fresh from technical college looking for cavity walls etc....the walls are 1 metre thick!
Is there a list of structural surveyors who do appreciate period properties and can sympathetically report on a period property. I could then give this list to the buyer?

I understand his rates are a trifle steep but he may be a useful first port of call and may be able to provide you with the names of others just as competent in your part of the world - be ready though, he does not pull his punches.

I’m sure mamy of us could recommend a surveyor but until we know roughly where the OP is it’s not very useful unless the surveyor is willing to, possibly, travel from one end of the country to another.
