Survey on Listed Building Buying Decisions

I am carrying out research into listed building buying decisions as a part of my Masters dissertation and have made a survey for residential listed building owners to complete.
I would be really grateful if anyone could spare a few minutes to complete it, it is very simple and all responses are anonymous.

Listed buildings seem a pretty niche and esoteric aspect of estate management. What led you towards this aspect?

Completed the survey. It May be interesting (for you) to see how many people just blundered into the Listing aspect of owning what they thought of as a house.

I've tried to complete it but survey didn't work for me, particularly Q14 - no listing of 'other'. No section at end for comments either so I couldn't clarify. Bit frustrating and pointless for me but I'm sure for others it will work fine.

Done, though I would have liked to see more questions regarding the administration implications of listed building ownership.

Anyone new to listed properties and thinking of buying will have many questions. A common theme of this forum is people asking for advice here because they cannot contact their local council CO or, even worse, they have to pay for meeting with them.

If the nation deems it important to preserve and manage its built heritage then it seems only fair that they should give reasonable assistance to those people willing to take them on and look after them for the future enjoyment of the nation. An empty period property very quickly becomes a derelict period property!

If financial assistance is not available (a whole different debate!) then at least help should be readily available for the admin and advice aspects of listed property ownership, for which the CO is perfectly positioned and why it is a fundamentally important role. Sadly, the trend seems to be that public spending constraints is squeezing out the role of the CO. I believe this will be disastrous for the nation's stock of listed property but of course by the time the damage is noticed it will be too late.

Thank you for taking the time to complete my survey, all replies are very useful in my research to see how people have come to own a listed property and the range of issues people have faced.
Estate management involves a diverse range of topics, and my dissertation was to be on anything that fell under this umbrella. I myself live in a listed property and it is a system that I find very interesting, hence the decision to do my research in this topic.

The financial assistance you have mentioned in your comment is an issue I have explored in the context of my dissertation and is an issue with the current system that has been raised numerous times in the literature and sources I have studied.

I have taken your points on board and I will be looking into them further to include in my dissertation.
