Suitable paint for bathroom

Hi all.

What would people advise for paint above wainscoting height in a bathroom? The walls are a combination of new lime plaster on external walls and new gypsum on internal walls and a high sloping roof. There's a bit of a moisture management issue arising from a rooflight that harvests condensation... Earthborn claypaint maybe?

I've used earthborn clay paint on our bathroom walls which are all lime hemp plastered. 2 years on and still looks good. Nice dull finish and can see the texture of the hemp in the lime really well.
Good coverage but its not cheap. Stockist prices do seem to vary a bit so do your homework.

Auro do a range of breathable paints - even one with an anti mould additive should you feel the need to treat the symptom rather than the cause :twisted:

We used a chalk paint for our bathroom, no issues so far, but then we do have a honking great extractor to avoid condensation issues etc.

My brother used Earthborn clay paints on the walls in his damp-smelling dining room and was most impressed as the damp smell went very quickly. Whether that paint can cope with the amount of dampness in a bathroom is probably a different story. I note that you don't mention what ventilation you have - whatever it is, can you increase its effectiveness?

We used Rose of Jericho Casein Distemper.

Thanks for thoughts. Ventilation will be addressed this year with a single room MHRV once I've sufficient funds. At the minute it's frequent trips up a step ladder to the rooflight. I've ordered some Earthborn samples and will see how they go on.
