Suffolk brick chimney in need of tlc- recommendations sought

Hiya

Our unlisted, approx 1850 mid-Suffolk brick house seems to be letting in rain somewhere in or near the chimney/stack. I looked with binoculars and to my inexperienced eye it looks a bit of a mess of patches with the pot at a somewhat rakish angle. We fairly urgently need to get someone who knows what they're doing up there. I've checked the "Seeking Specialists" section, but value personal recommendations highly, so I hope it's okay to ask here if anyone has any recommendations. Anna - I suspect that I'm not far away from you (Im in the Sudbury area). I've never used a local builder, so I'm afraid I can't be of any help. However, I'm looking for a builder for exactly the same job as you - sorting out bad flashing and flaunching. I've decided I'm too old for shinning up on roofs any more!

If you hear of anyone good, please could you PM me? Obviously I'll reciprocate if I have any luck.

Thanks Penners! No joy yet, but I'm glad I'm not the only one looking - I was starting to think that everyone here must be expert diy roofers (as well as plasterers, historians etc!). Kind neighbours have taken pity on us & risked life & limb to put a temporary lead patch over the possible source of our problem so we're now giving it a little while to see if it dries out.

We're definitely still going to need someone competent up there soon though, so if we find anyone good, we'll certainly contact you.

If anyone out there knows a good roofer/builder mid-Suffolk-ish, please do let us all know
