Student Research into the Policy Framework Governing Energy-Efficient Retrfoits in Residential Listed Buildings

Hi all,

I am a final-year Building Surveying student working on my dissertation titled, "Energy-Efficient Retrofits in Residential Listed Buildings: An Evaluation of the UK Policy Framework." I’m seeking input from listed building owners or individuals with experience working on listed buildings to better understand the challenges associated with retrofitting for energy efficiency and how these issues might be mitigated through improvements in policy.

No identifying information is requested during the questionaire, ensuring your reponses remain completely anontmous. All data will be kept confidential, stored securely in a password-protected location, and destroyed at the end of the research project. Partially completed responses may be used depending on the extent of information provided. Due to the anonymous nature of the quesitonnaire, withdrawal from the research will not be possible after submission.

Yet, at the bottom of the introductory page was my email address, presumably added to the form by the 'Google Forms' software used for the questionnaire. It definitely was not extracted from this forum as it's a different email address to the one I use here.

It turns out Google Forms shows your email at the bottom if you're signed into your Google account while filling out the survey. This isn’t because the survey creator is collecting it—it’s actually a Google feature that helps you save progress so you can come back later without losing your responses.

If you hover over your email, you should see it says ‘Not shared’, and if you click, Google confirms: ‘Your email and Google account are not part of your response.’ This means your email isn’t recorded or linked to your answers in any way.

If you want to check, try opening the form in an incognito/private window or signing out of Google—you’ll see the email disappears.

Thanks for the clarification - can't be too careful online these days. Won't be too long before an AI bot just fills in such surveys on our behalf based on what they've learned about us from all our postings I'm not sure if that's a or a or a

It seems a bit limiting restricting your survey to listed buildings only. I would gues most of the users of this forum for example do not live in listed buildings, merely old and ineficient ones, but nonetheless love and want to preserve. We face similar problems with modern building standards, but without the backing of the listed buildings exemptions.

Some just crack on making improvements where they can without involving Building Control and do the best they can within a set budget. That 25% rule of theirs can be advantageous at times even if it means taking longer to complete a project.
