I need to lay a carpet over an original quarry tile floor (I'm keeping the tiles exposed in the adjoining kitchen but this room will be a lounge and we prefer a carpet - yes I have considered rugs!).
I want to make sure I don't damage the tiles in fitting the carpet. Assuming gripper rods are the only way to lay a carpet onto tiles, does anyone know of a suitably strong glue I could use to fix these to the tiles which could later be removed without damaging the tiles? Or any other suggestions?
I've heard of water-based glues for furniture restoration etc, but wonder if these are strong enough to take the shear force from the stretched carpet, and also if any moisture in the floor (plan to use felt underlay/jute carpet for breathability) would weaken the bond over time?
Thanks for any advice!
