I've not had the pleasure of employing the much mentioned Strippers of Sudbury yet, but I need to strip a Georgian pitch pine fire surround so will be ordering some Klingspan... But not sure what size to get.
What are people's experiences with coverage? Strippers say 3-6 sq m per litre, but obviously dependent on many things.
I need to measure the area of my surround, but at a guess it's only 1.5 sq m, and mostly plain flat surface bar a small amount of detailing.
The paint to be removed is relatively ok surpsiringly, a few thin layers of older flat paint, looks like eggshell but probably lead based given the age. And what looks like only the one layer of recent gloss over the top which hasn't be done too heavy handedly!
Much is flaking and manually removable with care, but there is some finer detailing where a product is required therefore I will use the stripper.
I'm assuming a relatively thin coating of Klingspan will suffice.
Any thoughts out there in terms of similar experiences on how far the product went?
I'm currently weighing up 1 or 2x 500ml or 2.5L, the latter feels like too much. But then again I don't fancy getting part way through and running out!!
Does it store well for future inevitable use once opened if I get the larger amount?
