Stopping up an internal drain

Hi.

My ex-brewery has a large drain opening (110mm, clay neck, leading to surface water sewer) in the middle of what will be the kitchen. As its to the surface water and not foul water sewer I unfortunately can't use it for anything waste-water related. I guess it needs stopping up in someway before I put a new screed down.

Has anyone tackled this issue before or able to offer a suggestion on how to close it up?

just hack off below ground level and put this in and tighten up!

How about a good dollop of concrete.

Or limecrete, if you're going to be pernickity.

That looks about right. Insert plug, concrete over. Nemesis, yes, its a branch off a surface water drain, located inside the building presumably from olden times, when used for sluicing the floor or somesuch.

Sorry Roger... I've had a fraught day, my internet access decided not to work. Several hours on the phone to all and sundry have brought it back.

Goblins came in the night and changed the settings.

PS it could have been something before that though... but that needs some research!

I will do. One room is recent sand over earth floor. The other room is thin concrete over? I will be getting my Time Team hat on soon as I need to find an extra 250mm of head-hight. Don't worry, the foundations are massive.
