It's good to see that the local council still has some teeth. On the corner of our street and Holloway road is a typical London building of stock brick with a stucco clad lower storey, probably early-mid 19th Century, which was a solicitors' office. Scaffolding went up and builders started to demolish all the interior walls and the all the exterior walls above the ground floor, throwing away all the stock bricks. They then started to rebuild the exterior walls with cheap modern bricks. All work has now ceased following the issuing of a stop order for infringement of conservation area rules.
