stone staircase insurance?

Hi, we are looking at a property with a stone staircase tomorrow - my current neighbour said that it is hard to get insurance if there is a stone staircase. Is he right?

We have four stone staircases in our house and they have never been an issue with our insurers. They did get a bit worried about our lightning conductor, though. Asked us to take it down in case it attracted lightning. Bless 'em.

What an extraordinary suggestion! Anyway, why would the insurance company know about the stone staircase?

I can confidently say that I have never seen the question "What is your staircase made of?" in an insurance proposal form.

While you're about it, it might be an idea to block up your fireplace, in case anyone lights a fire. :roll:

It was probably personal insurance - falling down a stone staircase will hurt a lot more than down a wooden one I suspose ))

Some people can't understand anything that is slightly out of the leaflet on bog standard building.
