Hi
Looking for advice, been in our Edwardian main door flat 10 years now and in our street out off approximately 100 flats three flats had original sash and case windows with stained glass.
After playing a 10 year waiting game about a year ago I noticed the UPVC van was outside one of the properties and the bay window hoppers with stained glass were lying in the garden, spoke with the owner of the property who informed me he'd asked the glaziers to dump them!!!
I asked if I could have them he just nodded help yourself!
There was some damage to some of the glass also the outer lead cane was rotted so after removing them from the frames (which were also in poor state) I gave them to a stained glass specialist who re leaded the outer and replaced the broken pieces.
I now had four beautiful stained glass panels to have fitted to the new sash and case windows we were thinking of having fitted.
Then about four months ago another UPVC appears in the street further up the road, and there again the original stained glass hoppers are lying in a heap for disposal again I asked permission to take them and receive same comment we're only going to dump them anyway!! I carefully removed those from the frames and again the outer lead cane was rotted and a couple of the pieces cracked, after watching a few YouTube videos I decided to have a go at replacing the cracked pieces and outer lead on my own I had a spare frame this time as this property had an extra window to the side with the same stained glass pattern.
I now have two different sets of stained glass and I'm now wondering which would look best in our windows. So would appreciate anyone's opinions on which you think would look best or which would you choose.
