Well, the motivation or lack of it is entirely up to you. I post 'em - follow up or ignore as you please. Seems pointless to spoonfeed and say what a link leads to when clicking on it tells you exactly that.

Ok, I haven't obviously put this image up as a contender for architectural photograph of the year, but maybe it is a contender for most impolite treatment of a window refurbishment? Some may disagree. I would be interested in your comments. What does this window installation do for the building? Has it taken away any of it character? Does it really matter if we organically grow our buildings phase upon phase, layer upon layer? You could say that the new installation is honest! It tells us that it is contemporary! I put this photo up because behind it there are numerous philosophical questions about our historic environment which need to be answered.

If nothing else this window is a warning to all those who pass by not to be so stupid! I think there comes a point where something is so unspeakably terrible that it is worth keeping as an example for others.

(PS I liked all those septic tank ones - a subject of real fascination to me! Interested though in the history of sanitation. From Romans at Housesteads garderobes in Langley Castle to Bazalgette and sewers and pumping stations.. the history of the public loo... privies and lack of 'em ... Yes yes, barking mad...)
