Some good news…. and a question

We have been granted our LBC to put a balconette on the front of the house. Thought I would have to arrage a cage match between the CO and Building Control, but BC seem to have tapped out early. The heritage blacksmith however is willing to go a few more rounds as he wants the design absolutely perfect…… and if he has to explain why what the CO thinks she likes is a bad idea/ not pleasing to the terrace as a whole/ would be fixed in the wrong place then he’s going to keep beating on her until she loses the will to live

In unrelated news, anyone in Bath or surrounding area know of a good structural engineer? Asking for a friend who isn’t listed but wants to remove a wall.

In terms of Bath structural engineers - I used this chap, was about 5 years ago but he was very good, prompt, provided very detailed calls and was more reasonably priced than many of the others in the area.

He was also very tolerant when ultimately we ended up not taking the wall out and all his hard work was for nothing (we did still pay him though! )

Excellent, thanks so much. I asked my builder, but he said he just used whatever calculations were provided as per an architect after they interfaced with the SE, so didn’t have a ‘go to’ person himself. My architect has been so swamped by endless re-drawings of the balconette he didn’t reply yet amd I’m catching up with my friends tomorrow
