Solum Damp Proof Sheet

Hello,

Does anyone know here you can buy that Damp Proof sheeting stuff that the Damp Proofing Companies lay on top of earth solums. The thick plastic studded stuff?

You're not alone Moo, that's a new one on me as well. As for DPM sheets - the only one I've ever seen is the bog standard builder's DPM, which is basically a sheet of very heavy polythene. Not something you should generally be looking at for an old house, unless it's for a new extension or garage/outbuilding.

1200 gauge is worth the few extra pennies over 1000 gauge.

Yup - me too. Not sure what the "studs" are for - unless they're to make the material look more technical, hence more expensive.

I'm such a cynic.

Could the studs be to stop the material from sliding about over the ground, er, solum?

Though why this should be necessary after it has been covered with a few tons of material I don't really know.

It is absolutely lovely out there today. Which is of course why I'm stuck indoors feeding electric cables round under my son's bedroom floor .
If I was planning to do some gardening then it would be -6 and blowing a gale today.

Still, it's better than wallpaper stripping, my no.1 most hated task of all time - even worse than clearing a blocked drain.

Back to damp proof sheets - dtl, do you mean those sheets that contractors sometimes use in basements that have studs on the back to space them off a wall, and are supposed to allow free drainage behind?
