The concept of oxygen-rich, anaerobic conditions makes my head hurt! :roll:Contary to popular belief, sewage worms do not drown in water, sludge or silt if there is oxygen present. In the silt, sludge, soil or water of most septic tanks and soakaways there is an anerobic process that takes place. Because of this natural process the worms exist comfortably.
Different sort of worm to what one gets in your garden. A wormery worm is usually the Tiger Worm, which can be bought at an anglers shop.worms said:(Equally I have never understood why people buy worms for their wormery or compost!)
Hmmm... Eisenia foetida should be around in most gardens. Composts were around for a long time before anyone started selling worms! I've started new composts many times and they have always become populated by E.foetida without any input from me!wobs said:Different sort of worm to what one gets in your garden. Wikipedia said:The name "Valentine", derived from valens (worthy, strong, powerful), was popular in Late Antiquity. About eleven other saints having the name Valentine are commemorated in the Roman Catholic Church.
In all probability, performing some arcane rite to St Doug of the Donkeys (or to St Vincent Ferrer if you want the version approved by the Vatican and the construction industry) is just as likely to be effective as a £99 bucket of worms!Penners said:Isn't this forum amazing? In just over one page it's morphed from soakaway worms to saints' names.
