Thought this was a triumph of a programme - and shows great promise for the series. Hope it is not just BBC Wales showing it.

It's not too far up the road from here - and we even have one of the cows they showed; a British Shorthorn!

FamilyWiggs - It seems good so far and I'm looking forward to tomorrows episode, even though I hate those reality TV programmes like Big Brother etc, I quite enjoy things like this. We were big fans of the original Coalhouse series which was filmed not far from here.

If you are interested in the history of Welsh houses, S4C have a new series starting Wednesday night (9pm) called Cartrefi Cefn Gwlad Cymru, its about 600 years of Welsh homes and starts with the longhouse I think. As my Welsh is not particularly good I shall be watching it with the subtitles on and checking for the usual S4C spelling mistakes.

I'm sure it's not pleasing the most pure of purists, but I'm loving this series.

It's really bringing to life the harshness of mountain smallholding in 1890s N Wales. I'd love to do a series like this with my family.

It really is fab. It's just up the road from here (well about an hour away) - but culturally feels much closer.

I think one of the things which seems so attractive (but is probably me being unrealistically romantic) is that although the life is very harsh, it has a much closer to the land and the relationships within the family are necessarily very close. They couldn't be otherwise living on the breadline in such a small space!

It is my favourite place in the whole of the uk, North Wales. I may have to move there.

I love it in any weather, I used to go to Capel Curig several times a year to our school OPC.

Just watched the second one. It was a very bare smallholding, do people live there normally do you think?

I love the slate quarries!!

I don't think anyone lives there. They did up the first cottage for the series which I think was derelict. The second cottage is brand new, but built traditionally.
