Hi
I'm looking to undertake a small repair to the timber frame - see picture attached. The bottom piece is half missing, rotted away, and the diagonal stud is rotted at the top where it is attached to the corner stud. All the surrounding timber above and below is good.
I have found a piece of good hardwood to use - stored in my Mum's shed since my Dad closed down his building firm over 30 years ago - rather than use modern softwood.
What would be the best way to cut and attach new pieces? Should I leave the old pieces in place and put them in alongside?
thanks!
