A business in the Town Centre has put a sky dish onto a Grade 2* listed building, is this allowed?

If it had listed building consent, yes.
Round here, you wouldn't get it on a house - but a building in a town centre may be different.
When we bought this house, there was a Sky dish in the back garden at ground level, in a very inconspicuous place. Cables from it were buried in the garden and then up and through the house wall.
We removed them.

LBC is usually required (although our previous CO passed with "no consent required")
Might be worth having a look at these http://www.sqish.co.uk/ if there is a need to find a more unobtrusive dish....they look a lot better in real life than on a webpage

I tend to take the approach that if a place can be found to put the dish that is reversible and isn't going to upset anyone then it can be done without permission as it doesn’t impact on the historic or architectural quality of the building. If it goes somewhere glaringly obvious then it will require consent and probably won't get it.
So the answer for me is find somewhere sensible and get on with it.

In our last house (listed Grade II) the CO said that he generally "nodded through" dish antennae, so long as they didn't break the skyline of the building. It has broken the skyline of the adjacent listed buildings and is very obvious... I've no doubt that somebody will be checking it out, since the local bloggers are 'all agog' !
