Afternoon
We've got permission to insulate our cottage ceilings. A bit of background - they are 18th century (probably) Grade 2 listed cottages, with exposed beams to roof level. We want to keep the beams as exposed as possible, so are trying to find the thinnest (but most efficient) insultation around. We know about Kingspan but also found this stuff:
http://www.roof-solutions.co.uk/ourshop_158894_39689.html
which apparently is more efficient than Kingspan and only 10mm thick.
Does anyone know of anything better/more efficient, bearing in mind the rafters are 2x4s so we're limited in the depth of insulation we can install once the air gaps and plasterboard/skim are included.
And for those of you who are going to suggest leaving it uninsulated as it's authentic - we tried - I can't do it. I'm ok snuggled up under the duvet, but trying to put make up on when it's 7 degrees and I can see my breath is not funny
Any advice gratefully received
Thanks
Nim
ps - apologies if this doesn't make sense; I've got bird flu and can't think straight.
