I haven't reached that point just yet but I've been thinking about it and posting about it a lot over the last year on various forums and it looks like its going to be Casein distemper for me.

A recent case in point - I posted a question about silicate paint on a prominent FB group the other day in the hope of catching the attention of a retired 'paint scientist' over there called Tim. Amongst the comments that followed I noticed once again much strong support for Little Greene distemper. I've seen the support for LG distemper a lot recently and the most the vociferous cheerleader is a prominent member of the FB group (who I won't name here).Breathability and old buildings

Breathability is a marketing term. Unregulated and thrown around. Often as you say, referencing humans not the paint.
Ask for a data sheet and spot the chemical binders. Most won’t provide one and get cagey.
SD values are also misleading, lab tested based on vapour permeability, not liquid moisture. Genuine coatings will absorb airborne moisture, hang on to it, then release, the same way lime does.
So I turned my attention to LG distemper and headed straight for the data sheets...which contained zero information! So I emailed them a request for the ingredients and what followed was a rather bizarre conversation which involved a young lady trying to gaslight me into believing everything I needed was on the data sheet before finally admitting what I was after was confidential information. They won't reveal one ingredient...nothing..zilch.
So finally I contacted Tim directly for a chat rather confused as to why this person was pushing LG distemper and telling people to follow the data sheets when in reality the data sheet contains no enlightening information. Well colour me shocked when Tim diplomatically informed me that the cheerleaders' husband is a prominent member of staff at Little Greene lol
