Some of the period properties near me were damaged by last year's floods and the street has been full to bursting in recent months with builders', etc vans as they renovate and repair. There wasn't much evidence of natural materials being used although I did spot a van a few weeks ago which said 'specialist lime plasterer'. Then today I saw that one house has had a delivery of several very large bags of Ty-mawr lime! Hooray! If I'd had my camera, I would have taken a photo as it's such a rare sight after all the cement and MDF, etc that I've seen delivered along the street.
And even better news is that the carpenter is going to renovate my old front door - reglazing, new door locks and, most importantly, replacing the rotted timber. Ok, the eventual cost might be the same as buying a new door but hey ho.. Hopefully, it'll be good for another hundred years!
