I've seen a three bedroom cottage in Scorland I am interested in buying. To my surprise upon viewing, I found there is a further cottage in the garden which is part of the same sale. The cottage in the garden is not mentioned in the schedule - I assume this means there was no planning permission for it. It appears there was an old original cottage in the garden (washhouse?) and that this has been extended to create a 'granny house.' What would be the risks in buying if indeed there has been no planning permission for this building?
