sealing tiled / slate floors

We have inherited a fantastic Victorian house that needs some TLC. With a young family in mind, I want to seal the downstairs floors against wear, tear and washing. We have a mosaic tiled floor in the hall, a slate floor (showing extreme signs of wear in places) in the old kitchen - now dining room and terracotta tiles in the old pantry - now downstairs loo.

Can I use the same product for them all? What's good and long lasting? Traffic Wax and HG Golvpolish have both been recommended. Is one better than the other? I don't want to ruin the floor...
