So, I'm cleaning up the ashlar on the back of our house, and in the process of removing the multiple layers of lead paint, there are some gouges, so I am going to have to drag back the blocks maybe 1/4 inch.
Now in the old days, all the workers on site would urinate into buckets, which it was then the job of the apprentice to "paint" on to the stone. With the ensuing chemical reaction, a harder crust would be created, then the next rainfall would washed off the remaining crystals. This would leaving a nice crust which would seal the stone...
Given that my better half will be doing the sealing, she is unsurprisingly not keen on us urinating in buckets for a week or two then slapping it on, so are there any more modern alternatives that will have the same effect without compromising breathability?
