SPAB are having a day out.

At my house.

Apparently, they think I am showing folk how to make windows. Fortunately, my friend Fiona, will be demonstrating how to mend an old stained glass window. In the afternoon we will be visiting three redundant medieval churches nearby, now under the care of the Churches' Conservation Trust. In between we will have lunch.

If anyone within reach of this out of the way corner of Lincolnshire fancies wasting their Saturday then let me know. The cost is £7 to SPAB and another £7 if you want lunch. That goes to my daughter, who happens to be a Bettys of Harrogate Cookery School tutor so may know how to make a sandwich.

But the CCC does excellent work and the churches are always well worth seeing.

I'm mildly interested in learning how to repair stained glass windows, but the prospect of lunch from a Betty's supremo... zut alors!

At least post a photograph of the lunch, would you? In 3D and smellyvision if possible.

I've only ever been to Betty's in York, but it's a wonderful experience. You feel as though Bertie Wooster and his Aunt Agatha might sit down at the next table at any moment.

You can have anything from breakfast to an early supper, but tea's the thing. Bread and butter (their own bread), cakes (ditto) and plenty of Darjeeling.

Not cheap, but do it at least once.
