We are going to run a work surface along a wall with two(four pane) sash windows. The previous owners have cut the sills away, and the work surface will have to come just above where the windows actually close. This will obviously look strange with a full size painted wooden frame at the top of the windows, and virtually nothing at the bottom. Is it possible for a good carpenter to reconfigure the windows so that they look in proportion, or will we have to replace the whole thing sash and all by contacting a specialist window company? Any ideas?
