I plan a minor restoration of our sash windows. Although I will fit new parting beads etc. (with brushes) the windows are in pretty good condition and really only need the cords/pulleys sorting and a repaint.
They are currently painted in white gloss but since it's a 17th century cottage I would like to use Linseed oil on the outside.
Is there a thread on here with a "blow-by-blow" account? I believe I'll need to strip the gloss paint off and go back to wood, then prime with Linseed oil, then paint etc. - and I will be doing this with the windows out - but the devil is in the detail.
No point me asking questions if it has been done to death already! I have searched but not found anything, perhaps as I am never very good at finding the right search terms
