Saltaire WHS Approach

Just thought I'd share some pics of my local area. New developments are taking place on the approach to Salts Mill, Saltaire, a World Heritage Site.

I was somewhat taken aback by the latest addition to the area...

This old building was Jerome's Mill, still a working mill when I moved here in 1996 - undergoing a £60M redevelopment into appartments.

It is certainly, new, honest and of its time.

Here's the new bit around the back, next to the river Aire...

Although I prefer this rotting building next to the 18th century canal bridge.

Plans passed last night, although will now have to go to Ministers as the council has gone aginst national policies and has a financial interest.

Grim.

I seem to remember that's one of your hobbies, Middi.

Yep - a few hardy souls brave the weather and dumped shopping trolleys / bicycles to fish in the canal.

That ruin would make a nice house, provided that you could persuade the lender that there was no rising damp
