Ruabon tiles...prices?!

Hi, I am about to re-tile an inglenook area, (that was previously concreted over), with red/black Ruabon(6"x6") tiles, to match the rest of the room
We need quite a few (~150) and have been looking around reclamation yards etc
Llanelli salvage have them, but are selling them @£1.20 each.
Does anyone have a feel for if this is about right??

Yes, probably. 9 x 9s are around £2.50 - £3 in the yards. You can get cheapoer ones privately on ebay or the like, which is probably worth doing. I tiled my kitchen floor. If doing it again I would investigate getting new ones.

cheers PP....so sounds as if £1-£1.20 sounds about right...I will try to negotiate based on the bulk purchase

It's always worth a try as if you don't ask you don't get, but my experience of negotiating in salvage yards for 500 old bricks at £1 a piece was I ended up paying £500

I found that I had a better chance of negotiating on "luxury" items that they know you may be purchasing on a whim, rather than several hundred items that they know you are purchasing on a "need". Either that, or try to appear disinterested

your right, im a useless bargain hunter...usually pay their price in the end!!

So it seems Llanelli salvage was winding up this weekend...I walked into an auction, trying to get rid of all their stock...No way was I going to bid on a "pallet of quarry tiles for £400"...so we are now delayed, and I will have to look elsewhere...
Anyone know of a good salvage yard either in the Bristol area, or around Carmarthen??
