Rooflight?

Hi all

Recently cleared a collapsed outbuilding. It used to be an up upholstery workshop, and looked liked they'd all run away one night, leaving everything behind; singer machines etc, but also 2 pushchairs, a double mattress, a washing machine, home brew bottles...
I think it had possibly been used as a community recycling point...

Hoping to sell a few of the finds to help towards the cost of the demolition.

Am I correct in thinking the attached are called rooflights?
And any suggestions what they're made of?

Yes look like skylights. You can see the little pulley for winding it open and closed in the second picture. Can you tell where in the building they used to be? Made of cast iron and must be quite heavy.

We had one in the back box room and getting that down to ground level was hard work. Its still up the back of the garage because its too nice to chuck in a skip but realistically never going to be re-used in the house because the frame will attract condensation.

What are your plans for them?

Sounds like they want to sell them.

Sadly, as they are nice things, they are going to worth very little. A very niche item that realistically is only going to be of use in an outbuilding of some description. They will also require quite a lot of work.

I sold an unused, double glazed, modern one that had been left in my attic for a couple of hundred I think.

I don't think these are roof-lights or sky-lights rather they are clerestories. They would be mounted high in a wall and above head height to maximise available wall space while allowing natural light and air to penetrate the space indoors.

Interesting that they seem to be hinged to open outwards at the top judging by the way the glass is fitted and the orientation of the writing.

New neighbours have a couple of horses, dogs, cats, pigs, ducks, chickens.... a real menagerie. The tooled up half is currently building a menage and and I'm thinking these may be of interest for their stables. Will have a word if I see them about in the next day or so.

They were in the roof of the building (asphalt I think).

Well, one was. The other had fallen in at some point, hence no glass.
Yes they're really heavy.

I was hoping to sell them to someone who would make good use.
If not, maybe make a cold frame out of the one with glass
