We have noticed over last few days a water mark above the skirting board internally on an outside wall. Our stop cock is also situated about 10 feet from the water mark.
At first we thought we may have a leak in a water pipe because of it being near the stop cock, now we are wondering if it is rising damp?
The paint is peeling from the wall and there are also the white salts showing where the paint is peeling. The carpet, underlay and chipboard is all dry.
Outside. alongside this wall, a previous wally concreted a path of sorts right up to the house itself. On scraping back the shingle that is over the concrete the ground is damp although we have had hot weather. Could this cause the rising damp or could there be leaking pipes within that concrete?
