Wow...finally a renovation show I think we'd all enjoy. Possibly with a bit of budget envy! Classy stuff from people who know what they're doing and can afford to do it properly.

I thought it was very interesting, and so good not to have all the hype that usually surrounds anything to do with televised restoration programes.

I think its a great programme and the properties they have seem really reasonable to rent, so much so we are gonna book one in Feb.

I tried watching it on "Channel 4 catch-up" but couldn't stand the repetition and the ads. Pity.

I will second the honourable gentleman above that the program is generally watchable despite the efforts of Ms Keay. She doesn't half harp on in a painfully insincere way.

There also seems to be a lot of people standing around and watching. The "uncovering of the fireplace" where one chap did the work, and 6 people stood behind watching, taking it in turns to bray various non-sequiturs at each other was a case in point. I wish there was more on the actual "doing" and less on the waffling. Another example was the sequence on the cast iron balcony. The balcony itself was fantastic, seeing how it was restored and installed, only to be spoilt when Keay decided that "inspiring herself" with the view was more important than the technical detail, but then I am an engineer!

That said, the "decorator" who sorts out the furniture etc is a hoot, especially when he almost eletrocuted himself in Hugomont. I can't decide whether he genuinely takes himself that seriously or is doing it tongue in cheek

I just watched the first one on catchup and enjoyed it. Why is Anna Keay getting people's backs up? Her manner of speaking is slightly odd but I think she's a bit of a darling!

Ahh Mrs Dressing Up as we call her. I think there is a good drinking game there where you take a shot everytime she dresses up in period clothing.

La Keay is of course also Mrs Simon Thurley (formerly of English Heretics), and the woman behind the "controversial" spending of millions of pounds on a conjectural reconstruction of the gardens of Kenilworth Castle, as painfully detailed in a previous documentary.

I haven't watched that one, Doug, so I can't really comment. Besides, I don't claim that my list above is in any way exhaustive - I've really only scratched the surface of annoying TV presenters (which will, I hope, annoy them back).
