Restoration home.

Nowt on telly,cold in the workshop so had a look at recorded programs,came across "restoration home" not a program I normally watch it was about the Old Manor, in Saham Toney,norfolk,so sad,vandalised,stripped back to the timber frame,covered in scaffolding and polythene then the money ran out and the polythene was blown away.so so sad,have deleted it,could not risk watching it again!.

I fell asleep so did not see the very end of the revisit--is that what happened then? What a shame.

It was just a frame with the shredded polythene blowing in the wind,really upset me!.

30K on underpinning. Did you see the massive holes they were digging under the walls?? Good job for the builders and GDP. Not so great for house or owner.

It was clear that it would never end well. They appear to have turned a 'restoration' into an expensive demolition job. I say 'they". The husband didnt seem much help... :shock: He was only marginally less annoying than the presenter. As for 'Kieran' turning up in a sharp suit and hard-hat to survey the wreckage....

Some of them seem to turn out like that. Naive owners taking advice from inappropriate builders or architects or whoever. This stuff is really tricky for newbies. The forum is a great help to those that stagger on here.

Agreed it was very sad. Nice lady, but IMHO did not have a clue about what was involved, how to manage it nor the associated finances.What was interesting is that where was the CO ? It was or is a Grade 2 listed building isn't it. Some support might have been helpful and perhaps might have helped avert this tragedy.

Watching that program traumatised me,before starting any project I will remember it.The image of that poor house really upset me.I have deleted the recording of it so i cannot watch it again,just hope a "revisited" episode is screened in a few years with it returned to health.MATRON have I had my supper yet?.
