I watched it PP, it was in the village where I grew up so it was very exciting to see!
I used to babysit for Biagio the lime plasterer, he's a Doctor of medical science but took up plastering instead
My late father went to that farm, during his visit the farmer said he needed the toilet and proceeded to pee in a pot in the corner of the kitchen (quick exit Father)
I found the clip about the bricks really interesting, I've been looking at my house bricks to see if I can see traces of leaves and grasses, I would love to watch a program just about bricks i'm sure I would learn so much from that eccentric gentleman from the program .
It was a good start to the new series. I prefer these programmes on BBC because you don't get a repeat of the plot every time you come back after an advert. Restoration Man is a prime example.
The husband seemed quite indifferent about the whole thing but his wife was clearly passionate about the building and wanting to look after it. Kids didn't seem to feature now or in the future so they will rattle around somewhat.
Maybe I wasn't paying attention (making the tea) but I couldn't quite follow the link between the Tudor kitchen and main house. Would they really have built the house so close to a Tudor structure just to use it as a kitchen if, as they said, architects of the time were so obsessed with symmetry? You could see the lead flashing where it physically attached to the house. I understand the fire issues but it did look somewhat clunky. It would be more fitting to have attached to, or be standalone from, a much larger estate house. Having said that, a very nice house and I would live there quite happily.
