Hi. Any advice would be much appreciated. We have a quarry tile kitchen floor laid on ash. Whilst I like quarry tiles, over time the floor has developed undulations, several tiles have cracked and others are damaged, not to mention that it is cold, especially as it is on the north side of the house. We are replacing the kitchen so thought this was a good opportunity to replace the floor. However, the more I read, the more concerned I become about the best way to do it and possible complications with damp! The rest of the house has suspended floors. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on the matter please?

I'm with Mardinor on this one. Keep em - they've been laid longer than youve been breathing, let them rest a while longer and consider this just another contribution to saving the environment.

Another vote for keep them. If the cold is a major problem you could install underfloor heating in limecrete to maintain breathability, Google Ty Mawr sublime for more info. The existing tiles can go back down on top, you maintain the original look but now have a lovely warm room.
