Replacement Guttering

Hi, Can anyone advise if i could replace the original guttering with a PVC cast iron effect guttering? My house is a 16th century grade 2 listed cottage, however the guttering being replaced is on an extension built in 1930s. The previous owner has bodged a lot of work on it including installing a PVC lean to room and PVC guttering elsewhere which is poorly installed, I want to improve all the guttering but the bit i need to replace at the moment was cast iron that collapsed before christmas. Any advice appreciated.

You’ll need to submit LBC or at least a pre app, assuming you can’t contact your CO, but the chances are the answer will be no and they'll require cast or at least cast aluminium.

We're C. 17th Grade II and inherited a mixture of PVC (grey and black just because they could) and failing cast iron. We were submitting an LBC application and so included replacing all guttering and downpipes on the application. We're going to replace the with aluminium "cast iron effect" which the local conservation team seem to be happy with around here.

If you are proposing a change, i.e. cast iron to PVC then this would need LBC consent.

Thanks for the advice, I will look into the aluminium guttering. I would prefer cast iron but it’s so expensive! I have tried to contact the district and county council to talk to or get advice from a CO but council don’t respond and state they only have the budget for advice on major developments
