Repair of window cill

Hi,

I’m seeking advice on how best to repair the window cill to the rear of my property. The cill is cracked and is in need of repair and repainting, I am seeking advice how to repair and is this a specialist job, if so who should I contact?

I’m moving my 3 month old son into the room soon, so keen to get this dealt with asap.

That looks like a stone cill and provided it's not cracked all the way through it is possible to repair. Others here, such as @Stevers have particular knowledge concerning how to go about this and I'm sure he'll be along soon to advise.

On a more positive note theres little need for urgent action with this and it could, and should, be left until the summer. There are no issues that should affect your youngsters occupation of the room.

Thanks for getting back to me, I realise this isn't probably urgent but i would like to get it done this year if I can. @Stevers I would appreciate any advice on how to tackle this, I was hoping to either deal with it myself or get someone in to do the work. It is on the first floor of the property and I was hoping to deal with it from the interior rather than having to have scaffolding erected.

I have repaired all the stone chills in my house. All I have done is to widen the crack with an angle grinder and use a product called tourpet which is a cement type product which dries fairly quickly and can be painted in 24 hours. I have also fixed cracks in the chimney cappings. A metal plate can also be used to reinforce the repair

It looks like a chunk of stone has spalled without the 'off' bit. If so, I'd be tempted to use thickened epoxy to glue the chunk back on once the weather improves.
