Repainting/spruce up of Edwardian/Victorian fire place

Hi all I have a couple of old fire paces in bedrooms that will be just for show that have been borded over for the past 30 odd years, they haven’t got thousands of layers of drooling paint nor are they particularly marked just look a little dull in colour.

Any tips to make them more black again and look as though they have been cared for?

If they havent been painted, they probably just need to be polished with some fireplace blacking. It is a paste which comes in a tube and you can buy it online. It is a big like shoe polish, you stick it on and then polish the fireplace to a shine.
