Render Gun: flying by the seat of my pant's!!

Has anyone ever seen a render gun in action or used one?
And what is your opinion of them
because I purchased one last year to render my extension and apart from reading the instruction to use it was mainly, flying by the seat of my pant's

I once saw one in action, briefly. My impressions were:-

1. It looks like fun.
2. It looks a bit tricky to get even coverage.
3. I reckon the wetness of the mix must be quite critical.

That's probably no help at all!

1.Yer! It's not too bad but the air hose can be a bit of a pain sometimes
2 Yes again, a bit awkward to judge.
I sprayed a coat then floated it, then sprayed again until it looked a bit like a Tyrolean/Roughcast
it don't look to bad.
3. Actually no it's the same as an ordinary mortar mix except a bit more runny.
I just have to learn how to apply it correctly.
I've used it on two external walls
and downstairs internally on those Durox blocks which I find not much adheres to them well. But by spraying the render coat on I was very impressed, very good adhesion.
I bought it from a Anglia Lime Co about 2 years ago
Haven't used it since.
