Hi there - the floors in two rooms of our Victorian flat have been painted with red floor paint (floor/tile paint) I would like to strip this off and wondering how best to do it. Assume that sanding would be expensive as it would require a lot (area is about 35 sq metres) of abrasive. Would removing the paint first with some sort of solvent be a better bet?
The wood is pine and in ok condition although some boards need replacing and I would like to finish with some sort of limewash/lye wash to lighten as both rooms are quite dark. Otherwise would just paint over with dark brown!
It's possible this might not even work if the red paint has got between the floorboards but will have to strip off in some way to tell.
Many thanks in advance for any tips!
regards,
Lori
