I am wanting to remove emulsion from the brickwork on my chimney breast. It was painted twenty years ago. There are a few really damp bricks. Removing the paint from those was really easy. However I don't know what to try next. A heat gun was suggested. I have one as I removed gloss from doors and skirtings previously. It doesn't work. I'm trying to avoid a very chemically smell as I have four pets, although I realise I may have to resort to this route. I would rather have a go myself initially than paying someone to soda/sandblast? Also at the moment my kitchen units will be staying where they are so whatever method ends up working, I would then need to use the same method once I have a new kitchen fitted. The base unit along side the chimney breast would probably cover the same area it does not, but I am not replacing the wall units. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
