remodeling - general advice

I'm thinking of adding a bathroom and lloking for some ideas for creative creation of space (the roof of my house slopes so that the loft for the first floor is on the same level as the 2nd floor but is currently not accessible).

What should I do next? Are there specialist architects or builders who are good at this sort of thing? The house is listed grade 2 and dates from around 1790. The local conservation officer is pretty alert so I need someone who knows what is allowed and what's not.

Can anyone recomend any one in the Norwich area?

Yes - you need an architect experienced in dealing with this type of building, etc.

There are some arund in Norwich, one of them being our company [Note: shameless plug ]

Go to Seeking Specialists on this site and lok up WCP - contact our Buy St Edmunds office (where the architects are based). We have a Norwich office and one o our Architect partners works from there at least once a week.

Taking a more independent view:
'Creative' can be a personal matter. With anything involving aesthetics it sometimes pay to speak to more than one person. Find someone whose ideas you like and do not go simply on the cheapest.

look in local Yellow Pages, under architects (apologies in advance to any decently creative Norwich architects happy to do smallish jobs I may have missed out):

(oh, and me of course, but only if you live in the Norwich City Council area :wink: )

The problem is likely to be finding a builder at the moment, but an architect should be able to advise you.

The best way is to click the "PM" button at the bottom of Gareth's post, and send him a private message, asking for contact details.

He's a CO, so should be able to give you definitive opinions as to what wil/will not be acceptable.
