Reinstate original hallway arch?

In my house the hallway arch and moulding typically be found in victorian mid-terraces has been sadly removed. Is there anyway to put this back in? I assume it would mean getting some one who can do that kind of plastering. I have seen reproduction moldings on various property programs but do reclaimed ones ever turn up in salvage yards? Am curious as I'd like to restore this feature if possible. I probably won't be starting on this right away but its on my list of numerous projects.

The Victorian Society (click here) have publications that could help you in deciding what kind of arch your house would have had.

Alternatively, have any of your neighbours' houses still got the original archways/mouldings? If so, you could photograph and/or draw these. Then go to a plaster moulding manufacturer and get them made as bespoke items.

I have no personal experience of any of the above companies. If you Google 'Victorian Plaster Mouldings' you'll find a load of them yourself.

Cheers for that Penners. I have actually been in one of my neighbours houses a few doors down and they had their arch and moulding intact. So that and the links you've provided has given me some ideas! Ta

Excellent guys cheers! Given me some additional ideas on adding a niche to the hallway aswell! The previous owner blocked the original lounge door way with a thin piece of ply wood and left a recess to act as a coat hanger... hmm. So I think filling it in with a nice niche would be ideal. Now I just need to work out how much al these will cost
