Reclaimed Victorian Flooring

Hi everyone,

We are currently looking for good quality reclaimed flooring. The nice honey coloured boards you often see in Victorian terraces.

Loads of it on ebay but just wondered if any of you have any recommendations instead of getting loads of samples sent before finding the right thing.

No recommendations but I'll give you a tip: make sure that whatever you buy is all the same thickness and the same width.

This might sound obvious but I was caught out. I had a floor where all the boards had a rotten end where they reached a damp wall. I thought this would be relatively easy to fix by buying a few new boards and using judicious cutting on the existing boards. However I found that nearly every board was a slightly different width, and there were some which were slightly thinner as well. Then I found that it was almost impossible to buy boards which matched what I had, especially as reclamation yards plane them down; finding the right boards meant that a three week job took about four months!
